Our lunch today was rasam rice and Tilapia fish fry. Both of them are a very good combination, and you do not need any thing more. This fish fry recipe is also very simple but it needs little time for marination.

Once I started using the Air fryer for this recipe, I never wanted to pan fry the fish anytime. Main advantage of using this Air fryer is – your whole house does not have the smell of fried fish. It also uses very less oil, but tastes absolutely delicious.

Servings: 2

Ingredients:

  1. Fresh Tilapia fish fillet – 2 (big, each cut into 4 pieces)
  2. Turmeric powder – 1 teaspoon
  3. Chilli powder + Coriander powder – 1 tablespoon
  4. Garlic powder – 2 teaspoons (or use fresh garlic paste)
  5. Garam Masala – 1 teaspoon
  6. Salt – 1 teaspoon or as required
  7. Red food color – a pinch
  8. Freshly squeezed lemon juice – 2 tablespoons
  9. Oil – 1 tablespoon

Method:

  1. First clean and keep the fish ready. Then take a bowl, add turmeric powder, chilli +coriander powder, garlic powder (or garlic paste), garam masala, salt.

2. Now add to it the freshly squeezed lime juice, oil and mix well. Add the cleaned fish to this mixture. Spread the masala all over the fish, cover it with a lid and leave it in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.

After 3 hours..

3. Preheat the Air fryer to 350°F. Place the tilapia pieces inside the air fryer as shown below. Spray little oil over the fish pieces and close the air fryer. Bake for 5 minutes. Do not overcrowd the air fryer, otherwise the fish may not crisp up properly.

4. After 5 minutes, flip the fish pieces and spray little oil again. Close the Air fryer and bake again for 6 minutes. Total baking time is 11 minutes. An extra one or two minute baking will result in an overcooked fish.

Below is the pic after the first 5 minutes of baking.

5. After a total of 11 minutes baking, remove the fish pieces and repeat this process for the remaining uncooked fish. Serve hot with rasam or sambhar rice.
